The iconic techno duo Spektre returns to their own label Respekt with the Double-single EP ‘Endless Days‘. This one has both the elements of a summer hit typical of beach styles and the peak-time techno beats of a warehouse party. The EP also features a series of percussion that can take us back for a moment to the European breakbeat era of the 90s.
Based in the UK, Spektre is the shared alias of Rich Wakley and Paul Maddox, and they have released their explosive tracks on scene leading labels ranging from Pleasurekraft’s Kraftek to Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth On Acid. Little by little, they have made a spectacular return to the DJ circuit after taking a short break due to the pandemic, but this is their first release since 2020.
‘Endless Days’ may sound like a set of two totally different and fascinating singles, actually, it is the same song, but in two different versions where certain parts are privileged. Both versions are faithful to their four-to-the-floor style of blasting techno but experiment with a breakbeat groove and some nostalgic instruments.
In the Breaks Mix, as its name indicates, we can hear the more-detailed elements of the breakbeat, voice, and piano sounds that mark each part of the piece. While the club mix of the dark and catchy style of Spektre stands out, even more, that techno have made them one of the benchmarks of the electronic music scene.
